A Peek into the Garden

As always, I appreciate regular readers, new visitors, and those who choose to leave a comment.




Today, I thought I'd share a few photos of what's blooming.




Those of you who have known me for awhile may recall that I've been house hunting. 

There's been no progress on that front.




However, that means I get to enjoy the garden.

Makes me wonder if I really want to move . . .




My favourite thing, 
in the early summer, 
may well be the arbour, 
with rich, purple clematis blooms 
and sweet-smelling New Dawn roses.




This is the view from the driveway. It makes me happy to see the arbour and the hodgepodge of plants and shrubs nearby.


Drop on over, we'll walk through, sit in the garden, and chat.

A Few Peaceful Moments

To indulge in a few peaceful moments, I like:
 
 a good book,
 
 


something blooming,
 
 

sweet fragrance,


 and a cup of camomile tea.

 Here's hoping you find some peaceful moments in your busy day.

A September Peek into the Back Garden

Yesterday, I took a peek in the back garden, just to check on a few things. 
Happily, the roses are getting a second wind.





I'm a bit surprised, given how dry it's been. At least, it had been, until the wee hours of this morning. That's when the heavens opened, the rain poured and the thunder roared; it's been raining most of the day. That's fine by me, but it's not an ideal day for the first day of school. 

Imagine...
excited children,
 indoor recesses, 
and hardworking teachers trying to make everyone, 
soggy or dry, 
feel welcome and engaged.




Let's head back to my peaceful garden, shall we?
For the first time, I planted some of these.


They're called "Kiss Me Over the Garden Gate". 
 No smooching will occur here; my back neighbour is married!

Time to move and get a few things done. I hope your day is going well.

I Should Be Ironing

I should have been ironing. 


Instead, I took a walk outside to check on some of the roses. 


I'm a bit surprised they weren't flagging in the heat.
Like me. 



I'd linger longer,
but I should be ironing.

Now and Then

It's difficult for me to imagine living in a place that enjoys year-round blooms.
My garden is resting, wrapped up in a white duvet of snow.
Meet my lilac tree, now and then.



The young magnolia, now and then.







 The blue arbour with roses, clematis and nearby hydrangeas, now and then.

The blooms will return, perhaps appreciated even more given their long absence. 
For now, I'll enjoy the snow. Mustn't wish my life away!

Roses and Black-Eyed Susan Vine

If you stroll around my garden, you'll still find some blooms. 
These rosy reds continue to forge ahead.





The sunshiny Susans determinedly cling to the weather-beaten cedar fence.

I had better enjoy the colour while it's still here!

My First Mosaic Monday: Roses and Nova Scotia

Welcome. I do love roses, particularly if they have a wonderful fragrance. These are some of the ones that live in my garden. As I'm participating in my first Mosaic Monday over at Little Red House, I thought I'd share them with you. Go ahead, take a sniff and then pick a blossom or two for your bedside table!



If maritime scenery is more to your taste, perhaps you'll enjoy these photos of northern Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. It's a captivating place; the mountains and the sea are an inspiring pair!
