Thank you for stopping by My Little Home and Garden.
As always, I appreciate regular readers, new visitors, and those who choose to leave a comment.
Today, I thought I'd share a few photos of what's blooming.
Those of you who have known me for awhile may recall that I've been house hunting.
There's been no progress on that front.
However, that means I get to enjoy the garden.
Makes me wonder if I really want to move . . .
My favourite thing,
in the early summer,
may well be the arbour,
with rich, purple clematis blooms
and sweet-smelling New Dawn roses.
This is the view from the driveway. It makes me happy to see the arbour and the hodgepodge of plants and shrubs nearby.
Drop on over, we'll walk through, sit in the garden, and chat.

It's true.
I've been a little bit obsessed with peonies lately. I love their colours, fragrance, and the memories they evoke of my mother and her fondness for them.
I think it rather marvelous that a peony can be planted and still happily add beauty to its surroundings decades later. Some people manage that very same thing. Not me, I've been a bit grumpy lately.
Today, however, is a new day. A four mile walk on a lovely pathway, a good round at a cardio class, and a freshly picked bouquet of peonies have brightened things up around here. Also, it may be raining, but there are a couple of planter boxes in the basement with new coats of blue stain. I'm wondering if it is the stain that is holding the old wooden planters together!
Ahhh . . .
a waft of peony perfume just came across the room.
Obsessed, yes.
There was even a Peony Festival on the weekend.

I am not the woman in the centre. Nor am I one of the women wearing a pot of tulips. Really.

Did I mention I'd been grumpy?
No longer.
I'm snuggled in at home, feeling fine, and enjoying the remaining spring days.
Have you a current obsession that makes you smile?
Note: I've added a Bloglovin link in the right sidebar, if you'd care to follow along that way.
It's time for me to focus on
"pretty". The start of the week had plumbing, internet, phone, and television issues, all thankfully solved due to the excellent skills of a fine plumber and two technicians.
Today was much more agreeable, with a trip into the city to visit an art gallery in the company of a good friend. This weekend will find me getting back to the still-not-finished garden, no double scheduling my work around the anticipated rainfall. I had great plans for having everything done by the end of May!
That being said, the phox are blooming . . .
and it won't be long until the peonies burst open.
While indoors, I'll enjoy two bouquets of flowers that were given to me, a week apart. Feast or famine!
What's new with you?

Here's wishing you an enjoyable weekend, with a dash of beauty thrown in its midst!
Thank you for your visit.
While on a hike, a few weeks ago, these blossoms caught my eye.
So delicate.
In my garden, the pink theme continued.
Can you imagine the fragrance?
Although I love flowers, I think these watery shots by the lake may be my favourites.
Any thoughts?

The weather turned cold yesterday.
The wind blew with great gusto and the rain came down in grey, flapping sheets.
There was even a power outage for four hours.
The Morden Blush rose took everything in stride.
Some of the peonies opted to lie down on the job.
One could certainly say a good thorough watering was had by all.
Then the wind ceased, the power came back, and the rain went.
How is your weekend?
(I love reading your comments and will be sure to visit anyone who leaves one.)
Edited to add: My Little Home and Garden is now on Facebook, here.
No clever words,
just some simple blue, white and yellow blooms...
some lush leaves and pretty petals...
and a blast of brilliant colour.
Wander over there for a visit. Mary's photography is breathtaking.
Any thoughts? I'd love to hear them.
It was a sun-shiny day and time to start "keeping up with the Joneses". The occasional neighbourhood lawn mower had roared into action lately and I thought I had better dust off my beast and mow the dandelions (and some grass) for the first time this season.
With an electric mower one gets to dance over, under, and around the incredibly long extension cord. I hope the neighbours enjoyed this display of my middle-aged dexterity. There's nothing that adds a little thrill to mowing like the threat of a power surge through your body if you run over the cord.
I did indulge in a little interlude of browsing between tackling the front yard and the back. It makes me very happy to see that the peonies are coming along. I particularly like this one; it stands upright without a ring or cage of any kind, even when the richly coloured, heavy blossoms cover it.
Come back in June and you can see them. This butterfly and some friends were flitting around here and there.
Not all were this cooperative!
It felt great to get some fresh air today, weed the flower beds out front and mull over the easiest way to get rid of a multiplying multitude of dandelions in the lawn.
Still working on that last one, so if you have any environmentally friendly tips, please let me know.Happy Spring!
Yesterday's post was about how I've started to
house-hunt.
Given that, I had better make a special point of enjoying my garden this spring.
(And catching the weeds early.)
While in a grocery store this morning, I had a brief chat with a woman who was admiring the hyacinths. She picked up a pot for me to sniff and told me about the big purple blooms in her own garden.
This is a sight that makes me happy.
The shoot of a peony!
I imagine I'm not the only one whose affection for a particular plant is grounded in childhood memories.
The leaves may not look like much now, but tulips are another favourite, particularly when they dance in the breeze. This fondness may well relate to my youth in Ottawa and the magnificent Tulip Festival held every year.
Finally, the biggest blast of colour, right now, is the forsythia bush at the front of my home. It has a definite golden glow that suits my sunny mood.
Best Wishes to you on the occasions of Easter, Passover and Spring.
